Privacy Policy
InterestOS is built parent-first and local-first. This policy describes what information the app handles and where it goes. The short version: your family's data lives on your device, and the only thing that ever leaves it is the minimum needed to generate a learning pack.
What stays on your device
Child profiles (nickname or first name, age, grade, reading level, interests, learning goals, per-skill progress), every saved learning pack, print settings, and app preferences are stored only on this device. We do not run accounts, ads, or third-party analytics, and we do not collect usage tracking data.
What is sent when you generate a pack
When you tap Generate (or revise a pack, or generate an illustration), the app sends the minimum needed to create the content: the child's nickname, grade, reading level, selected interests (after conversion to safe, generic themes), the learning goal, the selected academic standard, and your chosen tone. This is routed through our server to our AI providers (Anthropic for text, Fal.ai for illustrations) solely to generate your pack, and is not used to build profiles or shown to other users. We never send your child's age, address, school, photos, or likeness — the app never asks for them.
Children's privacy
InterestOS is used by parents and guardians, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The child information a parent enters (a nickname, grade, and interests) is provided by the parent, stored locally, and used only as described above.
Branded interests
If you enter a branded interest (for example, a franchise name), the app converts it to an original, generic theme before anything is sent to an AI provider.
Payments
Subscriptions and free trials are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your payment details.
Backups
Backups and exports are user-initiated. When you export your library, the file goes only where you send it (e.g. your iCloud Drive or another app you choose).
Your choices
You can delete any profile or pack in the app at any time; deleting the app deletes all locally stored data. You can turn off AI-generated illustrations in the Privacy tab. Notifications are optional, local to your device, and configurable in the app and in iOS Settings.
